Computer Talks

Alive 90.5 FM Computer Talks ...

The author has been a member of Alive 90.5 FM Community Radio since January 2013 and has been contributing regular Computer Talks on the Morning Magazine program that goes to air on Thursday mornings between 9.00 and 12.00 noon. These Computer Talks are made available on the Alive 90.5 FM website (alive905.com.au) so that listeners can catch up at a later date if they missed the original broadcast. The author has decided to also make these Computer Talks available from this Blog by clicking on the link below. The individual Talks can be downloaded as an mp3 file. The format of the file names is as follows:
Filename: 015-02.05.13-Email Systems
015 is the Computer Talk number
02.05.13 is the date of the original broadcast
Email Systems is the topic of the Talk.

With a heavy emphasis on touch and rectangles, Windows 8 isn’t like your traditional mouse based operating system, and that makes learning it a little harder. Thankfully, there’s a homegrown solution coming designed to make everything easier to understand. Previewed recently for GadgetGuy, the educational program is developed by Dynamic Learning Online, a company that has been creating interactive training for quite some time, and has previously worked with the government to bring a series of interactive tutorials to Australians, educating seniors on how to use computers. For that project, over 20,000 senior citizens across Australia took part, with over 153,000 lessons taken over the course of two years.
