Good to see there is some co-operation between Google and Microsoft to the benefit of all users!
Part of the current Google+ reshaping is that the popular Photos component will now be accessible without going through Google+.
Allows you to open a non Google Docs file with a standard "Open With" menu option - assuming of course that you have the appropriate app installed.
Some welcome changes and enhancements coming to Google Drive. Most importantly you will be able to edit documents in Office format directly.
On Android platforms, the productivity apps (Documents & Spreadsheets - aka Google Docs) have become separate standalone apps allowing their use when there is no Internet connection. Once an Internet connection is available, the files will synchronise with Google Drive. The Google Drive app on Android will become a File Manager more like DropBox.
These are significant drops! 100GB for ~$2.00 a month makes it almost cheaper than buying external hard drives and all the fuss of connecting/disconnecting and finding somewhere safe to store them.
