Lots of articles on this Google announcement. Everyone is trying to work out exactly what it does and whose feet it is treading on! A few are jumping to the conclusion that it is just another "set top box" but cheaper (US$35) but it is more than that. It is running a full Chrome browser that is controllable from your mobile device.

Google Revamps Maps App

An important update to Google Maps app for Mobiles ...
Google Maps Android UpdateNot sure I liked this update at first but I have got used to it now! I recently tried a "turn by turn directions" comparison between my Tom Tom and Google Maps. I found that the Tom Tom was still much better as it gave clearer instructions, more warning and all street names. I found that Google Maps treated a roundabout as a left, then a right turn - it did not tell you which exit to take!
