Whilst, like other iGoogle users, I was initially unhappy at the prospect of losing iGoogle in November 2013, I have since looked at the alternative of customising the Google Chrome browser with "apps" and synchronised bookmarks and find this aligns beautifully with the Android tablets and smartphones. So I guess I can see where Google is going.
Google users: don't ditch iGoogle!: Since Google's announcement yesterday that it will be shutting down iGoogle, users have come out in force to protest.
